Slack Standup Bot

Purpose

Automate your daily standup updates by generating status reports from your documents, goals, and recent activity. Post formatted updates to Slack channels to keep your team informed without the manual effort of writing status updates.

When to Use

Use this Skill when you need to:

• Post daily standup updates to your team

• Generate status reports from your work

Step-by-Step Process

Step 1: Gather Your Context

Review recent activity and current work.

Ask guiding questions:

• "What channel should I post the standup to?"
• "What projects or areas should I include?"
• "Any specific accomplishments to highlight?"
• "Any blockers or challenges to mention?"

Search your documents and knowledge for:

• Recent document updates
• Current goals and progress
• Meeting notes from yesterday/this week
• Active projects and tasks

Use basile_search_documents for your recent work. Use basile_search_knowledge for relevant context.

Output Variable: standup_context

Step 2: Select Slack Channel

Choose where to post the update.

Use SLACKBOT_CONVERSATIONS_LIST to show available channels.

Help user select:

• List accessible channels
• Confirm the target channel
• Note any channel-specific formatting preferences

Output Variable: selected_channel

Step 3: Generate Standup Update

Create a formatted standup message.

Structure the update:

Yesterday/Recently:

• Tasks completed
• Meetings attended
• Documents created or updated
• Progress on goals

Today/Next:

• Planned tasks
• Upcoming meetings
• Goals to work toward
• Priorities for the day

Blockers:

• Challenges or obstacles
• Help needed
• Dependencies on others

Format for Slack with:

• Clear sections with emoji headers
• Bullet points for readability
• Mentions if needed (@person)
• Links to relevant docs if applicable

Show draft to user for review.

Output Variable: standup_draft

Step 4: Post to Slack

Send the standup update to the selected channel.

Use SLACKBOT_CHAT_POST_MESSAGE or SLACKBOT_SENDS_A_MESSAGE_TO_A_SLACK_CHANNEL to post.

Include:

• Formatted standup message
• Any file attachments if relevant
• Thread the message if replying to a standup thread

Confirm successful posting.

Output Variable: posted_message

Step 5: Confirm and Follow Up

Verify the post and suggest next steps.

Provide:

• Confirmation message was posted
• Link to the Slack message
• Suggestions for follow-up actions
• Option to save standup to documents

Offer to:
